The article makes reference to formative assessments being a useful tool for teaching and learning.

The Secondary section of the Canterbury School has embarked on a development plan regarding assessments, in order to improve students' learning as well as staff's teaching. Formative assessments promotes practical skills beyond mere memory and, together with traditional examinations, emphasizes alternative ways of assessment; such as self-assessments, feedback from teacher to student beyond the grade attained, and the acquisition of verbal, team-work and independent research skills.

It is the school's commitment to its students to provide them with the best possible tools for their higher education studies and future careers in a highly competitive world.
