Maspalomas Newsletter

T2_Newsletter_MaspalomasDear Parents: firstly, I would like to wish you all a very happy new year. The children have returned to school with a very positive mindset and a great enthusiasm for learning!

We remind you that all pupils need to be in school by 8:30am every morning to avoid interrupting classes and to ensure the children adapt well to the school routines. Many classes begin with Literacy and Phonics; any children who arrive late sadly miss this important input of language development.

This term, we have replaced the 'Daily Mile' with 'Wake Up Shake Up' activities. These short, two minute breaks allow children to stretch their legs and walk around the classroom between lessons to release energy and to refocus for the next task.

If you wish to enrol any brothers or sisters to start at Canterbury Maspalomas in September 2020, please contact the school office to request the matriculation documents.

SAFER INTERNET DAY "Together for a better internet"
On Tuesday 11th February the children will engage in many activities to promote safe and responsible use of online technology. *Please visit and remember to be SMART at all times!

We will be celebrating Carnival with a party on Wednesday 11th March. Children may come to school dressed in a carnival costume. Please remember that on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th March the school will be closed for our Carnival holiday.

Term 2 sports day will be on Friday 27th March. Please send your child into school wearing the P.E. uniform.

This term the reports will be sent home in sealed envelopes on the last day of term, Friday 3rd April. We will not give out individual parent appointments this term; however, parents who wish to speak to the teacher about their child may request an appointment at any time.

During the last week of term, the children will create an Easter egg project in a shoe box with plastic, polystyrene or hard boiled eggs! Basic Art supplies will be available in class; however, the children may want to bring something 'special' to add to their creations!

The last day of the Second Term is Friday 3rd April. All children may come to school wearing street clothes if they bring 1€ to donate to the charity 'Pequeño Valiente' for children with cancer. The Third Term will begin on Monday 20th April.

Yours sincerely,

Paula Hill
