Secondary Dates

Dear Parents: I am writing to, firstly, thank you for the countless supportive e-mails and phone calls received these past weeks.

We have all been unfortunate enough to live through a very stressful time full of uncertainty, and we have been able to feel that, from home, you have helped us tremendously to keep up the distance teaching & learning process. This exceptional situation has demanded a lot from parents and it is fair to recognize your invaluable contribution.

Secondly, I would like to inform you that distance teaching will stretch up until the 26th June 2020 from Y7 up to Y13. Attending timetabled Zoom lessons and following Edmodo will be compulsory until that date. We expect pupils to continue learning with the same interest and dedication showed so far through the set platforms as, beyond a grade, what matters most is learning for the pleasure of learning.

Regretfully, the Y11 and Y12 Educational internship schemes have had to be cancelled this year.

Global school reports will be e-mailed to parents on Friday 19th June for ALL YEAR GROUPS
If you have not received school reports via e-mail before please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it stating student name and e-mail address you wish the report be sent to.

Internal Assessment June 2020. The global assessment in all year groups will be flexible. The third term will only affect positively the global grade. On no account, a student will be downgraded for non handed in work, only partially handed in, or graded negatively during the lockdown period.

Y10 End of Year Examinations are cancelled. In the beginning of the school year, the replacing assessment procedures will be put in place.

Recuperations. As you know, these do not exist in the British system of education. Regarding Spanish subjects (Sociales and Lengua & Literatura) from Y8 up to Y12 (there are no recuperations in Y7) and following guidelines from the Canarian Dept of Education, there will be no recuperations this year, and therefore those students who failed Sociales and/or Lengua & Literatura will promote to the following year (Y11 to Y12 promotion is subject to external requirements which need to be met in order to promote and validate).

Textbooks. Students returning to school in September will return their textbooks to their teachers in the first day of school in September. If textbooks are in lockers, students do not need to worry.
Y13 students and non-returning students. Textbooks will be handed in on Monday 8th or Tuesday 9th June between 9 am and 12 noon in the Secondary Department (fountain area; please access the school through the Secondary green gate which will be open). If possible, please wear a facemask and gloves, and keep social distancing.
Students who fail to return one or more textbooks will not have their school report delivered on 19th June.

Lockers. No school material will be removed from lockers during the summer so students can collect it on the first day back. If, however, it is urgent to get something from your locker, please ring 828113400 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. IGCSE, AS and AL results. Results are published on 11th August. You will be e-mailed a username and password for you to check your child's results; so there is no need to phone the school to find out results.

Entries for IGCSE, AS and AL - October/November 2020 session. From 12th August you will be able to request entries e-mailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The deadline is 14th September.

Each academic department is already working towards the beginning of next school year, designing academic reinforcement plans to make sure lessons cover core contents from this past term.

The school as a whole is already working on an integral contingency plan in case a similar lockdown situation happens in the future. We are also in the process of finalising a Health and Safety Protocol for the start of the school year following the protocols set up by the relevant authorities. You will be informed as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for your understanding, trust and support.

Pedro Tomás, Head of Secondary
