The children begin Key Stage 1 of the Primary curriculum in Year 1. In Canterbury School Las Palmas the Year 1 classes are housed in the Infant building, Milton House, along with the Early Years Foundation Stage and the children move up to San Lorenzo to the Primary building for Year 2. Key Stage 2 starts in Year 3 up to Year 6. In the Maspalomas department both KEY STAGE 1 and KEY STAGE 2 are taught in the same building.
Lessons throughout all the Primary years are lively, fun and challenging and provide pupils with many opportunities to think critically and independently. Primary teachers strive to create an atmosphere that fosters enthusiasm for learning and promotes the personal development of each child. Pupils quickly learn the value of academic achievement, but they are also encouraged to take a broader view of success. Every member of the school is expected to contribute to the wellbeing of the school community.
