Sebastián de Cabo Portugal

Sin títuloWe would like to congratulate our Former Student, Sebastián de Cabo Portugal, who appears in the newspaper El Mundo today for his great work at the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) in London.

The "optimist" toaster the article talks about is part of The Great Recovery, a project created by the RSA in 2012 to promote a radical change in the way we design everything around us. In Sebastián's words "Designing for aesthetics or efficiency is not enough. We have to start designing for sustainability, and that implies a big change in our function. The future life of a product is primarily decided during its design".

After his time at Canterbury School, Sebastián graduated with first class honours in Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Product Design Engineering at Loughborough University. If you would like to know more about his work, we encourage you to visit his online portfolio.

Our sincerest congratulations!
