Letter from the Headteachers

Letter from the Headteachers

Dear parents, we have enjoyed welcoming the students to this new academic year and hope that you all had a relaxed and safe summer.

We are still learning to live with Covid and are gradually regaining some normality across the country, while vaccination is progressing. We are aware, however, that we must remain vigilant, apply anti-Covid protocols and look out for each other. We understand that you may be concerned about the start of the school year given the current circumstances in Gran Canaria. We have received updates from the Consejería de Educación to plan for the start of the school year. Canterbury School has been able, with your support as parents, to meet the challenges of Covid, and we will continue to do so to protect our community, ensure the school is safe and maintain standards to protect everyone, pupils and teachers. The protocols for this academic year are now available on the school website.

For now we would like to welcome back all families, and a first welcome to this year’s new students and their families as they begin their Canterbury adventure. We are very grateful for the very positive feedback we received at the end of last term: it is a great encouragement to our dynamic teaching staff, to your children’s academic progress and enjoyment of the school, and an endorsement of the pro-active and strategic way in which the school has managed the pandemic. We want to reassure you that our protocols continue to adhere to safety principles that minimise risk.

We are frankly excited about the year ahead and look forward to seeing the progress of our students. Please consult the protocols on the school website. Thank you.

Our best wishes

The Canterbury Headteachers:

Wendy Edwards (Maspalomas Dept.)
