Welcome to Milton House

Welcome to Canterbury Infant Department, Milton House. Thank you for taking the time to find out about our happy, friendly infant school, where our children are the centre of all we do. It is a delight and pleasure to be part of a team of professionals who are dedicated to providing children with the best possible care and learning experiences during their time with us. Here we offer a wide range of exciting activities and resources which promote each child’s learning across all the areas of the Early Years Framework and KS1 curriculum. The setting is a welcoming ‘home-from-home’, where children feel relaxed and happy, while being guided and nurtured by our dedicated staff team. As always at Canterbury School, our fundamental aim is to offer the best possible environment in which children can flourish and naturally develop a life-long love of learning.

Our school is not just about the wonderful facilities, it is the atmosphere and ethos that distinguishes our truly excellent Infant School. Our highly experienced staff recognise that self-esteem and self-confidence are an essential foundation for nurturing success and our children grow and develop in a caring and loving atmosphere. We invite you to come and visit our school and see for yourself what a special place it is!

The Infant Department, Milton House, where the children spend the first years of their schooling at Canterbury, is located in ‘Garden City’, a quiet, residential area in the heart of Las Palmas. In September 2018 we moved into this new building; totally renovated for the purpose of housing our Infant Department. All the teaching areas are modern, light and airy and designed to facilitate 21st century Early Years provision. At Milton House we encourage active learning and value the opportunities for the children to learn outdoors. Although in the city, we have adequate playground space including a sports playground/ basketball court and soft-floored play park areas complete with climbing frames and slides. The site includes a pleasant garden area with a special zone where children can undertake gardening and planting activities. The school has its own state of the art kitchen, including special food preparation areas to cater for celiac children and those with allergies. Every learning area contains a large interactive C-Touch screen and there is Wi-Fi throughout the building so that even our youngest children at Canterbury have access to the latest technology, when necessary. We aim to provide a stimulating and challenging learning environment for the children where we can build on their interests and strengths.

Learning in English

Students at Canterbury follow the British curriculum, adapted to the particular needs of our geographical environment. The curriculum we follow offers students an immense range of opportunities to fully develop their English language and other curricular areas.
