We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in the Infant years and the English National Curriculum in the Primary years, both adapted to our geographical location and with English immersion.

Welcome to Canterbury School of Maspalomas

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Canterbury School of Maspalomas, located in a unique environment in the south of Gran Canaria.

We have a beautiful building with an extensive outdoor environment. We have a large sports area, attractive garden areas where children can grow their own plants and a “Splash Park”, a water play area so that children can explore the properties of water while they refresh themselves in a safe and exciting environment. For our youngest children we also have a purpose built, designated Foundation Stage outdoor area where the children can develop their physical and social skills.

We cater for children from 3 to 10 and follow the same curriculum as our partner schools in Las Palmas. Our class sizes are small, giving the school a friendly family atmosphere where the staff know the children and their families very well. At the same time, the staff of all our schools work very closely to ensure the best possible education for all our pupils. Lessons are designed to be exciting and fun, fostering a love of learning in children while developing a firm grasp of the English language and academic excellence.

If you require any further information or would like to visit us, please do not hesitate to contact the school office where we would be delighted to help.

Wendy Edwards, Head of Maspalomas

Infant and Primary School

From 3 to 10 years old

At Canterbury School of Maspalomas we follow the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in the Infant years, which consists of Nursery (3 year olds) and Reception (4 year olds). In the Primary years we follow the English National Curriculum, which consists of 2 cycles: Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) and Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to Year 6).

Classes are lively, fun, challenging and provide students with many opportunities to think critically and independently, with an atmosphere that fosters enthusiasm for learning and promotes personal development, providing students with a learning environment in which they feel at home, they will be more willing to explore new concepts and ideas and build a firm foundation for their future learning.

British International Education

We use the methodology of English immersion, so that our children grow up surrounded by English in a natural way we place a strong emphasis on teaching the language, which allows communication in English from a very early age as we consider it essential to speak and understand the language before learning to read and write.
