Welcome to San Lorenzo

I feel truly privileged to lead such a wonderful school and to be part of such a dedicated, caring team who ensure that each child receives the best possible education in their formative years.

We have an aspiration for all our children that through their school journey they will fulfil their academic potential and become successful lifelong learners. In addition, we endeavour that our children will possess high levels of both social and emotional intelligence so that they are well placed to succeed and thrive in the future, becoming active and productive members of society. Every child is special and has their own contribution to make.

Our children have positive attitudes to learning, high standards of behaviour and excellent attainment across our broad and balanced curriculum. Our children follow the British National Curriculum which has been adapted where necessary to our geographical location and we build upon the excellent foundation given in Milton House.

Although we are quite a large school we pride ourselves on having a family atmosphere. We are fortunate that the majority of the staff have been here for several years and have built up relationships with the families of the pupils in their care. We encourage the older pupils to take care of the younger pupils through the Prefect scheme and the Playground Friends scheme. Our House system also encourages integration and a feeling of the “whole school”.

Our pupils have opportunities to learn through a wide range of educational visits and events. here is a shared goal to constantly review, improve and enrich our curriculum to ensure learning is relevant and exciting for all pupils.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit our fantastic school, or would like to know more, please do contact us.

Head of Primary

At the end of Year 1, students from Canterbury School continue their studies at the Primary School located in Lomo Diviso, on the outskirts of Las Palmas. The modern, purpose-built primary school building was inaugurated in September 1999. Located on 17,000m² of land, it is adjacent to the secondary school building constructed in 1992.

Pupils enjoy a dedicated classroom for each class with its own tutor, computer room, dining room, library, music room, theatre, large recreation areas and sports fields. All classrooms have two computers, a laser colour printer and a smart screen tv at the disposal of the students. We have our own dining room and kitchen, where meals are prepared daily for students, teachers and other school staff. In the primary school there are fifteen classes, three for each school year (year 2 to year 6). The maximum number of students per class remains twenty-five.

Learning in English

Students at Canterbury follow the British curriculum, adapted to the particular needs of our geographical environment. The curriculum we follow offers students an immense range of opportunities to fully develop their English language and other curricular areas.
