At Canterbury Primary School we follow the English National Curriculum adapted to our geographical location, with project-based learning and language immersion in English.

Welcome to Canterbury School Primary
It is a privilege for me to lead Canterbury Primary School and be part of a dedicated and caring team ensuring every child receives the best possible education in their formative years.
We aspire for all our children to develop their full academic potential as well as their social and emotional intelligence, which will enable them to become successful learners as well as thrive in the future, becoming active and productive members of society.
We pride ourselves on fostering a family atmosphere, in which our teachers develop a trusting relationship with the students and their families while encouraging integration with various programmes such as the “Prefect System”, the “Playground Buddy System” in which the older ones look after the younger ones or the “House System” which strengthens the spirit of belonging.
Lindsay Gale, Headteacher
Canterbury Primary School San Lorenzo
From 6 to 10 years old
In Primary School we follow the English National Curriculum which consists of 2 cycles: Key Stage 1 consists of two years (Y1 and Y2). In our school, Y1 is taught alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Milton and Y2 at San Lorenzo. And Key Stage 2 consists of four courses (Y3 to Y6).
Our classes are lively, fun, and challenging and provide students with many opportunities to think critically and independently, in an atmosphere that encourages enthusiasm for learning and promotes personal development.
While learning the value of academic achievement, we also encourage them to take a broader view, expecting each to contribute to the well-being of the school community by encouraging perseverance, initiative, and self-confidence.
The subjects taught are divided into Core and Foundation subjects. The Core Subjects are English, Mathematics, and Science while the Foundation Subjects are Geography, History, Computer Science, Art and Music, and Physical Education additionally, the Spanish language is incorporated from Y2 onwards following the syllabus stipulated in the LOGSE.

Bilingual Education
All classes are taught in English except the Spanish Language, and English is, therefore, both a subject and the medium of instruction, whereby the development of spoken language, reading, writing, and vocabulary is an integral aspect of learning, as well as language comprehension and fluency, are essential foundations for success in all subjects.
