On the last 3 days of term 25 students produced a fantastic mural in the secondary school playground. The theme of the mural was "buildings from around the world" and many students participated in the competition to get their building in the mural. The 25 students from P6 - S6 worked so hard to complete the mural and make the playground a brighter place for all of the pupils. Well done to all those involved.

For those pupils who took C.I.E. IGCSE, AS or A level examinations this year, please read the attached factsheet recently published by Cambridge explaining the meaning of the percentage uniform mark introduced in November 2010.

Monday, 5th September at 8.30 a.m. will be the first day of the 2011 - 2012 School Year for all pupils except fo those entering K0 and K1.  For further details please see the Introductory Day.   P1 pupils, for whom this is their first year at San Lorenzo, should arrive at 9.30 a.m.  Would all parents of K0 and K1 pupils please print and complete the questionnaire and hand it in to the secretary on their Introductory Day.  If you wish your child to travel to school on the School Bus, please contact Teresita (you will find full information related to this in the Introductory Document).

We would like to remind you the office will be open from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm during Summer time. We wish you a very nice Summer.

Infant Department (K0-K3) – Rubén Darío, 4.

There will be a meeting at the Infant Department. Parents and children will see the school premises, meet the teachers and hand in the Family Information from which you can download from the school web.  Please be punctual.


Attached you will the grades corresponding to June 2011. In the obligatory subjects, out of 26 students, 67 gained an average of 8.0 or higher; 15 between 7.0 and 8.0; and 4 students gained between 5.0 and 7.0.

The students (and teachers) returned to Gran Canaria after the trip to Barcelona and the Pyrenees. Everybody came back exhausted but happy after a week of activities which included quads, rafting, museums, Port Aventura ...It is time now to rest and wait for  IGCSE results.

In preparation for September could you please ensure that each student has an English dictionary. Also, please find attached lists of suggested fiction for Lower School students. These lists are in no way compulsory reading, rather recommendations if your child wishes to keep up their reading habits over the summer!

To prospective S5 students and parents. It is hoped that your son/daughter will successfully enter the Sixth Form (S5) at Canterbury School next academic year (September 2011). Sixth Form education is beyond compulsory education and is principally in place to assist your son/daughter to gain accession into Higher Education establishments; albeit a University or a vocational training institution.
